NetIP-NY proudly supports emerging cinema.
Oh, Sophia, an independent feature film
by South Asian artist and filmmaker Bornila Chatterjee, starring Lipica Shah.
Play Trailer
Bornila and Lipica are recent graduates of the NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. At Tisch, they collaborated on short films Dida Reema Anjana – about three generations of women in an Indian family in New Jersey, and LURV – a comedy about two sisters who look for love in all the wrong places. Oh, Sophia, their first feature film together, is about what happens when a shy Indian girl from New Jersey falls for a Brooklyn bartender to whom everyone is disposable and no relationship is meant to last.
The screenplay was a finalist for the 2009 Chris Columbus/Richard Vague Production Fund, spurring Bornila and me into action. We rallied together an edgy and diverse group of emerging artists – actors, crew, designers, musicians – and are busy getting together all the elements for our late August production start date.
But dreams, drive and talent alone cannot take our film from script to screen. These young artists need all the support they can get and your contribution – be it twenty or a thousand dollars - will make a difference. And yes, you can even write off your contribution to Oh, Sophia on next year’s tax return. The project is fiscally sponsored by non-profit arts service organization, Fractured Atlas (link), and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
All contributors will be credited in the film, thanked on our website and will receive a DVD of the film once it’s finished. Additionally, we’re offering Associate and Executive Producer credit for certain levels of contributions and includes credit on our IMDb page and an invitation to join us on set for a day.
Visit www.oh-sophia.com/contribute to see how we plan to recognize your generosity, scroll through our full budget breakdown and be inspired to contribute to this wonderful film!
Your contribution will bring this deserving, independent film to life and to that end, my team and I are enormously grateful.
